In the summer as bird song dies down and post breeding birds become less conspicuous NZ26 still has lots to offer. Butterflies to me are a summer treat reminding me of a distant childhood. Moths play a big part on summer and winter nights Bumble Bees have been grabbing my attention in the last few years and last year I suddenly woke up to solitary bees. I have made no attempt to hide one of my weirdnesses though, as I am quite content to know its a dragonfly or a damsel fly without worrying about the species. I am more likely to show an interest in wasps.
Which ever way all these are important and some consideration of them is key to being more involved with the lives of birds.
